Why Dr. Shivani Gour is a messiah for us?

We introduce ourselves as Mrs. Romila Jha and Mr. Kamal Jha and we’re here to talk about Dr. Shivani Sachdev Gour. I am a proud mother of a baby girl who is playing with me right now. When I look at her the people I remember are my husband and Dr. Shivani. My husband stood beside me through thick and thin. Dr. Sachdev not only treated me, but she also gave me strong support.

Complications before my delivery and meeting my savior

I experienced several complications before and after my pregnancy. I had a cyst a year before I conceived. I went to another gynecologist and asked for advice. She told me that nothing would go wrong if she delivered. Unfortunately, that was not the case and I had too much bleeding during delivery and I lost my first baby. It took us quite a long time to come out of the shock. Then we decided to consult a doctor after I become pregnant once again. My husband was also of the same opinion. Finally one of my relatives suggested the name of Dr. Shivani Sachdev Gour.

The day I met the good doctor

We went to meet the doctor at her Delhi chamber with a tottering heart and a glimmer of hope. She listened to us very patiently, studied the reports minutely, and then took me for a checkup. She suggested that we should go for IVF or C section as normal delivery would not be possible for me. Dr. Shivani Sachdev also gave some medications and a few routine clinical exams.

The treatment and delivery

We did our bit of research about IVF and learned that the success rate was low for this treatment. I am not ashamed to admit we also consulted other clinics too who promised us 90% positive chances of delivery. Finally, we went back to Dr. Shivani and opted for IVF. She didn’t show us figures nor did she promise us anything. She told us to hold on to our faith and trust her. After a long treatment that went for a few months, finally, I delivered!

Finally, my baby in my hands and the doctor becomes our savior

I couldn’t believe my eyes when the nurse gave my life in my hands. Dr. Shivani reviewed my reports and told me I was fine. Words are secondary to the gratitude I have for this doctor. She is a messiah for us and is truly a humanitarian doctor. Thank you, Madam!

Egg Freezing | Dr Shivani Sachdev Gour

Egg freezing, also known as mature oocyte cryopreservation, is a new technique in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) in which the eggs of a woman are frozen and stored for to save women’s ability to get pregnant in the future. Fresh Eggs harvested from your ovaries are frozen further in unfertilized form and stored for later use. A frozen egg can be unfrozen and combined with sperm in a lab and implanted in your uterus for vitro fertilization process. This technique is helping number of women to preserve and control their fertility for various reasons and help them to have children at a later period of time. Some women opt eggs freeze due to their medical condition or their undergoing treatment that affects their fertility. It is very helpful for the women who aren’t ready or able to have children and want to become mother in the future. A woman’s chances of conceiving naturally fall gradually as per their age because the number and quality of her eggs drops significantly.

Egg freezing is an option if you’re not ready to become pregnant now but wish to make sure you can get pregnant later. Egg freezing doesn’t need sperm because the eggs aren’t fertilized before they’re frozen, unlike with fertilized egg freezing known as embryo cryopreservation. Similar to embryo freezing you will require using fertility drugs to make you ovulate so that you will produce multiple eggs for retrieval purpose. You should consider egg freezing for below reasons:

  • If you have some health condition or circumstance that that affect your health of your fertility. These might include autoimmune diseases such as lupus, sickle cell anemia or gender diversity, such as being transgender.
  • You need to go for in vitro fertilization (IVF). Before undergoing in vitro fertilization, some people prefer egg freezing to embryo freezing for many reasons like ethical or religious reasons or you are worried about your fertility and think it is declining but at the same time you are not ready to have a child or you haven’t found the right partner, this is also called ‘elective egg freezing’.
  • You require treatment against some illness or need treatment for cancer that can affect your ability to conceive baby. Few medical treatments like radiation or chemotherapy can harm your fertility power at greater extent. Egg freezing before treatment will possibly increase your chances to have biological children later.
  • You wish to preserve your healthy and younger eggs now for future use. Freezing eggs at a younger age might help you to increase pregnant chances in your later life,or you are at high risk of injury or death (for example, you are employed in the armed forces who is being deployed to a war zone and are at high risk).
  • In increase the chances for become mother in future and reduced emotional risks. Egg freezing can provide hope for a future pregnancy but still there is no guarantee of success.
  • You are a female transitioning to a male and want to conserve your fertility before undergoing any reconstructive surgery.

Fertility Preservation

fertility preservation
                                                                 [moffitt.org]
Fertility preservation is a greatest option for those people who are diagnosed with cancer or other health issues. Family planning has fundamentally changed as compared to generation ago.

Progressively, women are postponing childbearing for non-medical reasons. For example, pursuing a career, unstable relationship, and financial deliberations. As a result, over the past 40 years, the age of a woman’s first pregnancy has been gradually rising.

When a woman should freeze her eggs?

If woman who is not ready to have a child now but wants to conceive later by her preserved eggs, should keep in her mind about right time of freezing her eggs. The best time for a woman to freeze her eggs is under the age of 30. The number of mature eggs frozen allows for the best prediction of ultimate pregnancy. For example, with ten frozen eggs the chances of a live-birth is twice as high for women under age 35 and under than for those over the age of 35.

When a man should freeze his sperms?

Various studies have now revealed that a man’s sperm production and quality declines with age and male fertility appears to wane after the age of 40 – 45. Due to their ability of continuously producing sperms throughout their lives, there are less apparent guidelines for men on non-cancer/non-medical fertility preservation, but under the age of 40 is a reasonable time.

How to Make a Decision of Preserving Fertility?

This is an extremely difficult question and one that requires consultation with an infertility specialist as well as a reproductive health counselor such as Dr Shivani Sachdev Gour. The pursuit of fertility is a physical, emotional, and financial investment with all three of these factors carrying equal weight and importance. People should decide very carefully before the preservation. Dr. Shivani discusses some issues that people must keep in mind before fertility preservation:

  • Financial Constraint: Fertility Preservation is an expensive process as it requires some medical tests and sperm/egg preserving labs. People have to pay for the time duration they need to keep their sperms preserved in these labs. Thus, they must be sure about preservation of fertility and make decision according to their financial condition.
  • Health Issue: Some people who want to become parents but they are cancer patients or surviving from any other disease where they cannot conceive, must think and decide very carefully about preservation of fertility. Anxiety is common in risky condition of health therefore a great patience is necessary during decision making by the suffering people.
  • Emotional Issue: People keep them emotionally strong for preservation of fertility.Because some of the people worry a lot about success rate of procedure. They keep thinking about future that whether they able to conceive using preserved egg/sperm in future or not. This is also an issue which can affect their decision of fertility preservation.
  • Unstable Relationship: Some couples have not stable relationship. It is very big issue for them to decide whether preserve their fertility or not. They should be ready for the future preservation about fertility after a deep discussion between both of the partners.

While advances in technology today allow for immediate and effective fertility preservation for men and women, in spite of that it is necessary never to pursue a pregnancy until peoples are physically, emotionally, financially prepared, and in a stable relationship, if applicable.

IVF Process – Step by Step

There are many couples who face fertility issues that prevent them from becoming parents. There are many medical procedures through which they can become parents and IVF is one of them.

In vitro fertilization treatment is the process in which an egg from a woman’s body is taken out and kept into a container where then the man’s sperm is inseminated into it. It is left there for a few days and then the embryo is surgically placed back inside the woman’s body. This process has allowed many people struggling with infertility to have a child.

Let’s have a closer look at what are different procedures or steps in a single IVF cycle:

  1. OVULATION ANALYSIS: The first step of the IVF cycle is that your fertility specialist will do a thorough analysis of your ovulation cycle. When do you ovulate the most and what is the difference between each cycle. Your ovaries will be monitored so that the doctor can evaluate the timing of your egg release. Different tests will ensure that whether your hormone level is normal or not or if your ovaries are properly releasing eggs.
  1. OVARIES STIMULATION: After the analysis is done, your doctor will then give you medicines to stimulate your ovaries to produce more eggs, hence increasing your chances at pregnancy.
  1. RETRIEVAL OF THE EGG: You will be either given painkillers or mild anesthesia for this process as this involves surgical removal of your eggs. Needles are used to remove the fluid in the follicles inside your ovaries. This fluid contains the eggs which cannot be seen from naked eyes. Hence the liquid is collected first and then the egg is extracted from the fluid. This egg is then placed in a container and kept into the incubator.
  1. FERTILIZATION: The next step is to inseminate the egg with the sperm. The most active sperm from the sample of your partner or a donor is injected into the egg in a special container. In most cases though, the sperm is placed within the same container with the egg, so that they both can find each other naturally, just like it happens in the body.
  1. DEVELOPMENT OF THE EMBRYO: After the sperm found the egg, the embryo starts to get developed. The developing embryo is then placed in a special kind of incubator where the growth of the embryo is monitored closely. The embryo is left alone for a few days so that it can grow healthy and its growth can be monitored.
  1. EMBRYO TRANSFER: Once it is decided that the embryo is growing and healthy, it is ready to be placed back into the uterus. You will not need any painkiller or anesthesia this time as this is a very small process. The embryo is placed in the cervix which is the lower most part of the uterus, using a small tube. This process needs to be done with great care so as no harm is caused to the embryo while transferring from the incubator to the uterus. This is a five-minute process and does not require lots of time.

After all these steps, the women may take a pregnancy test to be sure; however, a blood test is done by the doctor after the embryo is placed in the woman’s body. So these are the basic steps of an IVF cycle. Please feel free to mail us if you have any other questions or doubts regarding IVF.

Lifestyle Variations – a way to come out of IVF odds

Lifestyle is a big thing that matters in IVF. Most people tend to neglect their diet or other habits due to which the success rate goes down. Prior to the IVF process, a woman should change the lifestyle and adopt a healthy one. Now this means that the intake of a proper and rich diet should be there with lots of fruits, nuts and green vegetables. One should bring down the quantity of caffeine in their diet as it is not good for the health. Similarly if you smoke or consume alcohol then also you should stop doing it. Boost the chances of IVF success with experience and right process

IVF is one of the best ways to get pregnant and enjoy parenthood. No matter what kind of infertility you go through, IVF can prove beneficial in all of them. This is the reason that most couples have been successful with IVF and started a new journey of life. But everything that appears to be so simple is quite tricky and painful for a woman. Taking high dose fertility drug, visiting clinics every day etc can be tiring. Still the couples give it a try and look forward to positive results. The urge to have their own baby is something which pushes them to go through such a tough process both for the male and the female.

When you have decided to go for IVF, you need to connect with an experienced infertility specialist. Now you might have several names in your mind, a few may be recommended by your family and friends too. So you need to carry out proper research and then decide which doctor will be best for you. Dr Shivani Sachdev Gour is the reputed and best ivf expert in Delhi specializing in IVF since 19 years. Under her guidance many couples have enjoyed parenthood and have been successful with IVF.

IVF process

This is the most crucial stage of the IVF. The chances of success entirely depend on how the process is carried out and that is why it becomes all the more important to associate with the best ivf expert in delhi only.

Starting with medications and fertility drugs

Before your cycle begins, the fertility drugs are started. The main motive of these drugs is to stimulate the follicle so that more eggs can be formed for the fertilisation. Normally every month one egg is produced but with the fertility drugs, more eggs start producing.

Stimulation process

As soon as your day 1 arrives, you are prescribed the injections which can continue for the next 10 days. Along with ultrasounds and other blood tests will be done from time to time to track the position of the eggs and their growth.

Egg retrieval

This is done before the ovulation. You can consult your expert to know more about the same. You need to visit the IVF clinic for the same where this extraction will take place.

Fusion

Once the eggs are retrieved, it needs to be fused with the sperms. In case you are going for fresh sperms your husband will have to go through a simple process for its extraction and in case it is the donor then the sperms are already ready to be fused. Quality and most fertile eggs and sperms are chosen for the fertilisation. Natural fertilisation takes place in a petri dish under the right environment.

Embryo transfer

When the embryo is formed, it is allowed to grow and develop. After few days it is implanted into the uterus for further growth.

So at the end IVF turns like into a natural pregnancy but you need to be cautious and take more care of yourself for the right outcomes.
