When Couples Should Think About IVF Treatment?

IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) is a process that provides couples an opportunity to have a baby when other treatments have failed or are not appropriate. But the major question is, what are the conditions and factors to opt for IVF treatment?

There are some medical conditions in which couples should think about an IVF treatment.

Infertility

(IVF) has become an established treatment for many forms of infertility. Infertility can be in women or men both. Usually, infertility means not being able to get pregnant even after one year of unprotected sex (or six months if a woman is 35 or older). Following are some reasons in which IVF is helpful to conceive a baby.

  • Fallopian tube damage or blockage.
  • Ovulation disorders.
  • Premature ovarian failure.
  • Endometriosis
  • Uterine fibroids.
  • Previous tubal sterilization or removal.
  • Impaired sperm production or function.
  • Unexplained infertility.

Genetic Disorder

A couple can opt for IVF treatment if either of the partner has a genetic disorder that they do not want to pass on to their baby. In this case, healthy egg or sperm is taken from donor and fertilized in lab using IVF.

Fertility Preservation for Future Use

IVF treatment is helpful in fertility preservation to freeze eggs or sperm for future use. If either of the partners is suffering from cancer and about to start a treatment, they can arrange to freeze their healthy eggs or sperm, as chemotherapy and radiotherapy can harm fertility. These eggs or sperm can be thawed later and used in IVF once the cancer treatment is over.

Apart from medical conditions, there are some factors that lead couples to opt for IVF treatment.
  • The couple should be financially strong or must have a financial source for treatment; as IVF treatment is an expensive process.
  • The couple should be determined and patient enough to conceive a baby by this method; because IVF treatment may not be successful in one cycle and may require two or three cycles for result.

Female Infertility – Simple Tips to Increase It

Female infertility is quite a common problem nowadays and around 15% of them are affected by it. Infertility can be due to a number of reasons but working on the same at the right time can make a big difference. That is why it becomes all the more necessary to ensure a healthy lifestyle and keep a check on your ovulation too. If natural means are adopted to cure infertility, the results are really good. The chances to conceive or get pregnant improve by 70% and this is certainly a good number.

If you too are facing female infertility problems and wish to cure it naturally, then here is all the information you are looking for. So let us get started.

Maintain your weight – For infertile women, weight is definitely a big problem. It is essential to maintain the weight and for this they need to cut down the carbs and see a difference in their menstrual cycle. It will become more regular and this can help you to conceive faster. Even women suffering from PCOS should keep a check on their weight and follow a healthy and rich diet. Having foods rich in antioxidants too can be really useful for such women.

Starts your day with a good breakfast – Most of the women tend to skip the first meal of their day that is their breakfast. This is a wrong approach as it will only lead to more weight gain. Despite leaving your breakfast, try to have a bigger portion of the breakfast and it should contain healthy things. Have your milk or tea; include at least one fruit with anything that you like. Whole grains are a decent choice. A good portion will not only give you the required energy for the day but boost your chances of conceiving too.

Multivitamins are useful – Women who regularly take multivitamins are less likely to face such issues. It is because of the simple reason that multivitamins have folate which not only regulates your menstrual cycle but result in proper ovulation too. Thus the chances of becoming pregnant get increased by leaps and bounds as compared to other women. If you continue with multivitamins for around 3 months, the chances increase by 26%.

Stay active – Being lazy is yet another disadvantage so make sure you do proper exercise or workout. There is no need to try the rigorous workouts but a few simple ones are enough. Excessive workout can have adverse impact so keep away from the same and have a balance of the different exercises. You can get in touch with a professional for the same.

Avoid alcohol and caffeine – These two are highly dangerous and bring down the fertility level in the females. So cut down the same and experience the difference yourself.

With the help of the above helpful tips you can easily combat your female infertility and improve the chances of conceiving. Follow the tips seriously and you will certainly get pregnant and welcome a new member into your family. So start following them today.

IVF Process – Step by Step

There are many couples who face fertility issues that prevent them from becoming parents. There are many medical procedures through which they can become parents and IVF is one of them.

In vitro fertilization treatment is the process in which an egg from a woman’s body is taken out and kept into a container where then the man’s sperm is inseminated into it. It is left there for a few days and then the embryo is surgically placed back inside the woman’s body. This process has allowed many people struggling with infertility to have a child.

Let’s have a closer look at what are different procedures or steps in a single IVF cycle:

  1. OVULATION ANALYSIS: The first step of the IVF cycle is that your fertility specialist will do a thorough analysis of your ovulation cycle. When do you ovulate the most and what is the difference between each cycle. Your ovaries will be monitored so that the doctor can evaluate the timing of your egg release. Different tests will ensure that whether your hormone level is normal or not or if your ovaries are properly releasing eggs.
  1. OVARIES STIMULATION: After the analysis is done, your doctor will then give you medicines to stimulate your ovaries to produce more eggs, hence increasing your chances at pregnancy.
  1. RETRIEVAL OF THE EGG: You will be either given painkillers or mild anesthesia for this process as this involves surgical removal of your eggs. Needles are used to remove the fluid in the follicles inside your ovaries. This fluid contains the eggs which cannot be seen from naked eyes. Hence the liquid is collected first and then the egg is extracted from the fluid. This egg is then placed in a container and kept into the incubator.
  1. FERTILIZATION: The next step is to inseminate the egg with the sperm. The most active sperm from the sample of your partner or a donor is injected into the egg in a special container. In most cases though, the sperm is placed within the same container with the egg, so that they both can find each other naturally, just like it happens in the body.
  1. DEVELOPMENT OF THE EMBRYO: After the sperm found the egg, the embryo starts to get developed. The developing embryo is then placed in a special kind of incubator where the growth of the embryo is monitored closely. The embryo is left alone for a few days so that it can grow healthy and its growth can be monitored.
  1. EMBRYO TRANSFER: Once it is decided that the embryo is growing and healthy, it is ready to be placed back into the uterus. You will not need any painkiller or anesthesia this time as this is a very small process. The embryo is placed in the cervix which is the lower most part of the uterus, using a small tube. This process needs to be done with great care so as no harm is caused to the embryo while transferring from the incubator to the uterus. This is a five-minute process and does not require lots of time.

After all these steps, the women may take a pregnancy test to be sure; however, a blood test is done by the doctor after the embryo is placed in the woman’s body. So these are the basic steps of an IVF cycle. Please feel free to mail us if you have any other questions or doubts regarding IVF.

Finding Best Gynecologist to Meet Your Female Health Needs

Finding Best Gynecologist to Meet Your Female Health Needs

Going through any problems related to the reproductive system can be extremely irritating and painful. Most of the women ignore many little signs and problems and does not consult any gynecologist, which at the later point of time may result in far more greater and life-threatening issues. This is important for your health to find a good gynecologist and have a regular checkup every three months or so. So that you can stay healthy and come to know about any threats to your reproductive health at an early stage.

But finding a good gynecologist is not an easy feat. Choosing a gynecologist that has not only good practice but also understands you, requires some work.

Following are some points that you need to consider before selecting any gynecologist:

  • Finding a gynecologist who is also an obstetrician – If you are pregnant or are planning to get pregnant, it will be good for you if you select a gynecologist who is also an obstetrician. This way you don’t have to search for another good obstetrician to deliver your baby.
  • Years of practice – Though more years of practice does not make someone a great doctor, it surely makes a doctor more experienced and skilled. And if the doctor is really good with years of practice then he/she should be your best choice.
  • You feel comfortable with them – It is of utmost importance that you feel really comfortable around your gynecologist. If you are not comfortable enough to share all your problems and symptoms with the gynecologist, then he/she is not the right one for you. In India, one of the most important factors is the gender of the gynecologist. Most of the women in the country feel comfortable with a woman as her gynecologist and is comfortable in sharing her symptoms and concerns with a female instead of a male doctor.
  • They are affiliated to a hospital or have a clinic with all the facilities – It is really important that you select a gynecologist that is either affiliated to any hospital or have a clinic with all the facilities of her own. This will make your life much easier as you will not have to worry about rushing to different pathologies to get your tests done. Also, you don’t have to worry about finding a hospital in case of an emergency. Everything will be taken care of if your gynecologist has an up to state clinic or is affiliated to any hospital.
  • Easy Availability and Location – When going through pregnancy or any other reproductive system related treatment, you might often need to visit your gynecologist or need to call him/her to clear your doubts or concerns. So it is important that the gynecologist’s clinic is nearby your house and also that he/she is available to clear your doubts whenever you have any such doubts and problems. It is important for you that your gynecologist is available whenever you need him/her.
  • Friendly and Caring – If your gynecologist is not friendly or easy to go with, then you might not be comfortable enough for you to share all your doubts and problems with him/her. It is important that your gynecologist is polite and friendly and you can share all your concerns and problems with him/her without feeling hesitant.

These were the few points you can consider when searching for a gynecologist. Hope we were able to help you in your search for a good gynecologist.

Causes of Male Infertility?

Natural pregnancy comes to very few couples and then there are those for whom it is critical to conceive. It can be due to either male infertility or female infertility. That is why both need to be diagnosed properly to see what went wrong and how to combat the same. In this article we will talk about the male infertility, how it is caused and what is the treatment for the same.

Male infertility is directly related to their sperm count. If the males are facing low sperm count problem, this means that the sperms will not fuse with the eggs and result in pregnancy. This is a difficult time as couples keep trying hard and at the end nothing comes their way. So if you have been into unprotected sex for a year or more it is high time you seek the guidance of any specialist. The infertility specialists like Dr Shivani Sachdev Gour can guide on the same and help you with the possible treatments open before you.

Causes of male infertility

If there are issues related to sperm production or transport, then there chances that one is facing male infertility. Illness, health issues, any kind of disorder etc can be some of the reasons as why one is facing the infertility. But all these reasons are classified into 3 broad categories.

Sperm abnormalities – As the name indicates, if the sperms are not of good quality and low in count, it is sure to affect the pregnancy. This can be due to genetics as well or some long illness, high medications etc.

Reasons for a low sperm count – Low sperm count can be another reason as why the pregnancy is not successful. The reasons behind it can be unhealthy lifestyle, stress, genetic issues etc. It is important to consult the doctor and they will help you with the treatment.

Ejaculation problems – This is yet another reason of male infertility and needs to be diagnosed and treated at the right time.

How is male infertility diagnosed?

There are few tests which are done for male infertility and semen analysis is one of them. With its help proper diagnosis is possible and one can find out the root cause. Though there are others tests too like scrotal ultrasound, hormone testing, urine analysis, sperm function test etc which are done but semen analysis is crucial of all.

Treatment

ART or assisted reproductive technology is one of the best treatments for male infertility. Together with this, the doctor can prescribe you a few medicines as well for hormonal balance and overcome any kind of infection. If requirement surgery is also a possible choice but it will depend on the diagnosis done by the expert. In case the couple is going for IVF then the sperms can be extracted directly and then used for the fusion. So everything will depend on the test reports and accordingly the treatment will be suggested by them.

So get in touch with a qualified and experienced doctor only who can help you in the right treatment.
